Mom slept soundly last night and managed to stay awake in church, but then battled to stay awake for the rest of the afternoon. I've had jetlag several times in my life and it's never fun, but before this trip, the furthest my mom had travelled was three or four hour time difference so this is a whole new experience for her. She's doing very well with it – only a couple more days and she'll feel back to normal!
Many people at church know about my parents coming to visit and many came up to introduce themselves to mom – some she's already familiar with from photos or stories on the blog. When Emma made an announcement she called out, “Good morning, church!” so mom could hear the fabulous greeting I have come to know and love.
After church mom made a comment about how fun it is to hear the accents come through in the singing; I have made the same observation and it's one of my favourite things about going to church here. It isn't something that's constantly noticed, but occasionally a word will stand out from the rest in a song and it always makes me smile. I notice it much more when I can hear the person next to me singing and I love it! The global family of God is something that never ceases to give me delight.
As I was getting ready for bed I decided to double-check the time for the train we were catching to connect to the Eurostar to Paris on Monday morning. The time I thought we were leaving was off by over an hour... oops. No clue how that happened, but at least I caught it in time! (Thanks, Ian, for giving us a ride in spite of the early hour!)
