A Welsh Love Spoon

My brother, David, is engaged to be married to Keri at the end of February. While reading about the UK before I moved here, I discovered the tradition of the Welsh Love Spoon and David got a kick out of the idea.

I was at a little deli in Caersws yesterday and I was thrilled with a little discovery - a Chocolate Welsh Love Spoon! David, I had to buy one and send a photo for you. I'm sure if guys back in the day had made their spoons out of chocolate rather than wood, they would have had much better luck with the ladies.

Wow. Those Welsh Love Spoons are pretty intricately cool. Looks like they borrowed a bit (a lot) from Irish art, which in turn borrowed a bit from Nordic art, which in turn borrowed everything they owned from whatever country they went to. Long story short, if I was Welsh I'd totally make Keri a love spoon. As it is I am Polish. What do Poles do? Give her some love cabbage? What does that even mean?

Ah, it looks like I'm supposed to bring Keri's family a special bottle of vodka called "gesiorka". But I also have to make it myself and tie a ribbon and flowers to it. Forget that idea.

You are all so very impatient. All will get their love spoons in good time. Paul, ask Rachel. She may have a spoon she can give you. Oh just try a salad tong.
