One year ago today I was living with my family and working at a job I enjoyed. I had no plans to travel and if someone had told me I would soon be moving to the United Kingdom I would have laughed at the ridiculous idea.
Life changes unbelievably fast. Over the past year my brother got engaged, I witnessed marriage vows, friends had babies, I gave up my job, I moved to another country, and I mourned the loss of loved ones even as I rejoiced that they finally met their Saviour face to face. I've been frustrated by things not turning out how I'd planned and I've been delighted by little dreams coming true.
The past year has renewed my firm belief that God holds my life in the palm of His hand, He is a God who loves surprises, He provides little moments to delight my heart, He leads minute-by-minute, and He has my best in mind through the tough times. He is a good God.
I've made some plans for this coming year but I'm trying to hold them loosely; I've already seen how swiftly they can change. Even in the quiet moments, life is an adventure.
Happy New Year! Enjoy the adventures God puts in front of you and poke your toe into the unknown once in a while... sometimes it results in amazing leaps into fulfilling dreams you never thought possible.
