As the plane was taking off on Monday evening, the sun was setting and the sky showing through the clouds was lit with a brilliant combination of yellow and orange. My mind wandered and I started thinking about the beauty of creation, the beauty of life, and the wide variety of ways there are to live it. There are such a wide variety of adventures God sends our way and there's a unique beauty He brings to each life. I emailed a friend about this yesterday as my mind wandered over various lives, one of them being hers.
It was interesting to visit Rachel's home on Friday night with her away at her grandpa's funeral with her three young sons. The evidence of each of them was throughout their home. Paul and Rachel's wedding photo and vows framed and hung on the wall. The dishes she cooks with each day. The toys nestled in boxes along the wall. Signs of an adventure-filled life.
Those of you occupied with raising kids, living vicariously through my blog, don't forget that there are many of us missing out on your adventures. The little hands that rest on your leg when you read stories to little boys who are growing up fast and the welcome-home-from-work kisses you get to give to a man who loves you. I know being a wife and mom isn't easy, but there's a unique beauty and adventure to it and I hope you catch glimpses of it in the midst of the busyness.
