My flight home for David's wedding is booked! The price to fly into Seattle is much lower than flying into Vancouver (very frustrating) so my travel time will increase by about five hours each way. Not fun, but worth the almost $300 I'll save through putting up with the extra hassle. One of the things I'm really happy about is that the total cost for the return flights was less than $600! I'm flying home on February 12 and returning to England on March 2, arriving on March 3.
I'm now trying to figure out flights to Italy - looking at January 16 - February 6. I'm planning to go shopping this afternoon to check out carry-on size bags because I'll save £30/$55 if I don't take checked luggage. For a girl who isn't the greatest at packing light, it could get interesting, but it's a skill I need to develop. I figure if other people can do it, I can too... hopefully...
*Yeah... ummm... I'll need more than a carry-on bag. I checked the dimensions and my camera will take up about half the space.

Fantastic! Glad you were able to save money but who is going down there to pick you up?
Dad or I will go get her. Unless you really want to take the afternoon off work and drive for 4 hours. :-)
Hey Amanda, you should be able to take your camera as a "purse" and then have your carry on as well, couldn't you? just a thought. with all the travelling I've done, almost EVERYONE has a carry on PLUS a HUGE purse-type thing. I'm sure you could do it too!
No, it specifically states that a purse, laptop bag, etc. counts towards the one allowed piece of carry-on. It's a discount flight company (Ryan Air) so it's really limited. I'm looking into other flight options and it looks like I can save a chunk of cash by flying into Pisa instead of Perugia, the city closest to the cottage. Amazing how much time it takes to do all the research and consider the options!
