Walking at Fleet Pond

(Click here for a post about my return to Canada.)

Rachel and I planned to have a picnic lunch today and decided to add a walk at Fleet Pond, about half an hour from Basingstoke. We kept pausing to take photos so our walk took longer and didn't go as far as we had planned, but we still had a good time. It was so nice to walk through the trees and enjoy the fresh air (until we started wilting from the heat).

Fleet Pond.

We were disappointed because the path didn't go along the water as much as we expected it to, but walking through the trees was still beautiful.

It was great to spend the afternoon with Rachel, talking about what God is doing in our lives - the ways we've been challenged, the things we're struggling with, the things that have delighted our hearts. We're so thankful we serve a mighty God!

I know this is an odd photo, but check out the shape of the water around the swan's neck! I didn't notice until I loaded the pictures onto my laptop.

I always find it a little jarring to see these little warning images with a steaming pile of dog poo. So nasty!

We passed a dry heath but many of the heather blossoms were fading. I found an area with newer flowers and stepped off the path to take some photos. These are the two shots I captured before I glanced down and realized I was standing on a red ant nest. I knocked them all off my feet, but for the next hour I felt like they were crawling all over me.
